A 103-year-old woman from Eugene who survived the Influenza pandemic back in 1918 has received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Spanish Flu pandemic killed at least 50 million people and infected 1 in 4 around the globe.
Bernice Homan was born in 1917 and was just an infant at the time. When a doctor visited the family because of the flu he told Homan’s mother that Bernice wouldn’t last the night. Over a century later and Homan has far exceeded that doctor’s prediction.
By the time Bernice Homan gets her second dose of the coronavirus vaccine, she will be 104-years-old.
