When Wildfires Get Complex

California has almost 400 wildfires throughout the state. Powered by hot air and dry winds of August, some fires have rushed toward each other.

It is an unholy union known as a “complex.”

Right now, California has 23 complexes raging out of control. From Napa Valley in Northern California to the Bay Area and down to Southern California, wildfires have affected the entire state.

As complex fires grow bigger, they get hotter. At ground level, the temperature can be anywhere from 1,400-2,100 degrees Fahrenheit.
