The Big Adios: Pete Hamill

RoseBud pays a loving tribute to Pete Hamill in this edition of The Big Adios.  Pete died in New York City on Wednesday, he was 85.

He lived quite a life.  His fame came from his gift of telling stories, and he worked at many of the New York City newspapers in their heyday, covering the big stories of the second half of the 20th Century.

He was an author of 20 books, a mix of fiction and non-fiction.  He wrote screenplays, starred in movies with his good looks and charisma, romanced Hollywood legends and one of the most famous women in the world.  He was featured in national magazines and on talk shows and anytime someone wanted a “New Yorker’s” take on things because he was at his core, one of the people he would write about in his columns.

He was part of a new breed of reporters when reporting was considered a noble craft.  And among nobility, he was a king.

We hope you enjoy this tribute and if you do, please share it with friends and family.
