On This Day in Music, June 7th the Broadway play ‘Grease’ officially premiered in 1972. Six years later it was turned into a movie with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John starring in the generational classic.

In 1975, John Denver and Elton John both topped the charts. It was John Denver’s third chart-topping single, with the song ‘Thank God I’m a Country Boy’. Elton John’s album ‘Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboys’ became his first to debut at number one in America.

It took 24 years of sales, but in 2004 AC/DC’s album ‘Back In Black’ earned double-platinum status.
